Elder Care Support Program (Aged Care)

At Bandaar Walaaybaa our primary mission is to support, nurture, and uplift our elders, ensuring their lives are filled with dignity, respect, and quality care.

In alignment with the principles of the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organization (NACCHO), our services are deeply rooted in the cultural understanding, traditions, and values of Aboriginal and TSI communities. We believe in the wisdom of our elders and understand the importance of making their twilight years comfortable and enriched with the spirit of community.

Our Services

Personal Care Services: We offer personal care services tailored to meet the unique needs of our elders, including assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, eating, and mobility.

Home Support Services: Understanding the value of familiarity and comfort, we provide home support services aimed at assisting our elders to continue living in their homes. This includes home maintenance, meal preparation, domestic cleaning, social supports, medication preps.

Transportation:  We are offering travel assistance to medical & specialist appointments, if you need to travel out of town for a visit to connect to family, or funerals, travel in comfort and style with our Vehicles.

Respite Care: We offer short-term respite care to give primary caregivers a break, ensuring our elders continue to receive attentive care even when their usual caregivers are unavailable.

Health and Wellness Programs: Focusing on holistic well-being, we link-up a range of wellness programs encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual health. These programs include exercise classes, nutritional guidance, counselling services, and cultural activities that encourage connection with heritage and community.

Care Planning and Coordination: We work with our elders and their families to create individualized care plans, considering medical, personal, and cultural needs. Our team then coordinates these services to provide seamless, comprehensive care.

Advocacy and Support: In recognition of the power of collective voice, we provide advocacy and support services to our elders and their families, ensuring their rights and interests are upheld in all aspects of their care.

Cultural Competence and Sensitivity

Our dedicated staff are not only trained in providing high-quality aged care services but are also well-versed in the cultural sensitivities, traditions, and languages of our Aboriginal and TSI community. This cultural competence ensures that our elders feel understood, respected, and connected to their roots.

Collaborative Approach

We firmly believe in a collaborative approach and work closely with families, healthcare providers, community leaders, and NACCHO to deliver culturally appropriate care. This collaboration ensures our services are aligned with the best interests of our Aboriginal elders.
